Phillet & McLennan Chartered Professional Accountants is a boutique CPA firm located in North Edmonton. Founded in 1996 by Frank Phillet and Craig McLennan, the firm has built a strong reputation for providing practical, strategic, and client-focused accounting and advisory services.

In late 2022, Khalid (Kal) Rahal joined the firm and has since played a leading role in its continued growth and direction. With a background in both public practice and the Canada Revenue Agency, Khalid brings extensive experience in taxation, audit, compliance, and business advisory services.

Phillet & McLennan proudly serves clients throughout Alberta and is guided by a continuous pursuit of excellence, expertise, and passion. We are not a typical accounting firm. We do not rely on cookie-cutter solutions or simply play it safe. Khalid (Kal) Rahal, CPA

Khalid (Kal) Rahal, CPA, began his accounting career in 2007 with a chartered accounting firm in downtown Edmonton before joining the Canada Revenue Agency, where he served as a Tax Auditor and Team Leader within the Audit Division.
During his time with the CRA, Mr. Rahal worked extensively on tax avoidance audits, small and medium-sized enterprise audits, and criminal investigation referrals. His background provided him with significant experience in tax compliance, audit procedures, financial analysis, and complex regulatory matters.
Today, Khalid Rahal brings this extensive public-sector and private-practice experience to his clients, offering strategic accounting, tax, and advisory services with a practical understanding of both business operations and regulatory oversight.

Business Startup Advice

Craig McLennan is a founding partner of Phillet & McLennan Chartered Professional Accountants and previously served as a partner at PwC. With decades of experience in public practice, Craig brings extensive expertise in accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and business advisory services. Since co-founding Phillet & McLennan in 1996 alongside Frank Phillet, Craig has helped establish the firm as a respected boutique CPA practice serving clients throughout Alberta. His background with PwC, combined with his entrepreneurial and client-focused approach, has enabled the firm to provide practical, strategic, and personalized advice to owner-managed businesses and individuals. Rama – Office administrator

Rama serves as the Office Administrator and the central support that keeps everything moving. Frank Phillet, CPA (Founder, Retired)

Frank Phillet founded the firm in 1996 and has since retired.

Habib – Manager

Habib is an internationally trained CPA professional who brings valuable global accounting and financial experience to the firm. He currently serves in a management role at Phillet & McLennan Chartered Professional Accountants, where he assists with accounting, tax compliance, financial reporting, and advisory services for a diverse range of clients across Alberta. Habib’s international background, combined with his practical experience in Canadian accounting and taxation, allows him to provide clients with thoughtful, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused support. Habib oversees accounting staff and client engagements, reviews financial reporting, manages workflow, ensures quality control, and assists partners with operational management and client advisory services. Dania – Accountant

Dania completed her Master of Human Resource Management program at LIU- Lebanese International University. Dania specializes in payroll services and handles all payroll-related matters for our clients, ensuring accurate and timely processing while assisting clients with their ongoing payroll needs. She is also responsible for processing payroll, preparing T4s and ROEs, managing payroll remittances, and ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and CRA requirements. Jenny – Accountant

Jenny completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). She is responsible for overseeing client engagements, reviewing financial statements, preparing complex corporate and personal tax returns, and providing accounting and tax planning advice. Senior accountants also mentor junior staff and assist clients with business operations, compliance, and financial reporting. Email: jenny@rahalcpa.ca

Mariam – Accountant

Mariam completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and currently pursing her CPA designation. Responsible for preparing financial statements, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and assisting with corporate and personal tax filings. Huss – Staff Accountant

Focuses on personal and trust tax compliance and planning. Responsible for preparing tax returns, responding to CRA inquiries, conducting tax research, and assisting clients with tax minimization strategies and regulatory compliance. Email: Huss@rahalcpa.ca

Amir – Staff Accountant

Amir is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with the goal of obtaining his CPA designation. He is responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounting records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll entries, GST filings, and ensuring organized and accurate financial records for clients. Yara - Accounting technician

Yara is currently a University of Alberta student and works with our organization part-time. She is currently responsible for day-to-day accounting records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll entries, GST filings, and maintaining organized financial records for clients.
